We are honored to have been commissioned to disperse the most amazing single owner collection we have encountered in over fifty years of buying and selling antiques and conducting estate auctions. This entire collection in the residence of the late “Big Earl” L. Postol will be offered over the course of three days under tents. All lots will be sold to the highest bidder, without reserve (auctioneer’s discretion only) and with no internet bidding.

This sale has more collectibles and rarities than we have ever seen assembled in one estate in over fifty-five years of buying and selling antiques and conducting estate auctions.

Specific Information/Details Regarding Postol Three-Day On-Site Estate Auction

Critical Note: this remarkable estate collection has been advertised and scheduled to be offered over the course of three consecutive days, however we will endeavor to disperse the estate items as expeditiously as possible with the objective of condensing the sale from three days to two days. Whether we can achieve that objective will depend upon the pace and progress of the auction as well as other largely uncontrollable factors. Please plan accordingly.

Preview

Tray lots, furniture and other individual items will be available for physical preview and inspection at least 25 lots in advance of sale beginning at 9:30am each day of sale and continuing throughout the day until close of session.

Order of Sale

Each daily session will feature a diverse selection of items from every category, including silver plate, costume and ethnic jewelry, baskets, shell art, vintage kitchen implements, flower frogs, rugs, artwork, books, ephemera, furniture, outdoor furniture and statuary, hand and power tools, lighting contents two gardening sheds, the garage and much more.

Selling will commence promptly at 10:00am on Friday. Due to weather concerns, the items previously planned for "walk around" auction selling - including garage contents, selected appliances, household items, housewares, tools both machine and hand, common glassware and other utensils, clothing, and miscellaneous other items - will be sold randomly with the other auction items on Friday and weather permitting in a short special session just after noon on Friday.

Specific Items/Categories

In addition to the random sale of items from every category:

Friday session (12-5) will include Garden Furniture and Accessory Items, Rugs & Carpets, Books and the Two Stairlifts.

Saturday session (10-5) will include Silver and Fine Jewelry at 2:00pm. (see Terms for payment information)

Auction-Specific Terms

The Terms & Conditions posted on our website apply to this auction, with the following additions which will apply to the extent that they differ from or amend our posted Terms & Conditions.

There is limited preview for this auction. We plan to have at least 25 lots continuously in advance of lot being sold at auctioneer podium. There will also be video streaming to monitors within the auction tent. Regardless, all items are sold AS-IS and WHERE-IS with no exceptions, no guarantees or warranties and no discounts, refunds or returns.
Bidder Registration Requirements (pre-auction available)
a) Photo ID (driver’s license) and both sides valid credit card.
b) $5 cash (exact change) paddle fee (charitable donation to Woodbury Food Bank).
c) CT or other valid resale certificate copy and business card for non-taxable status.
Methods of Payment (all payments must be received end of each sale day; no exceptions):
a) Known or prior bidders: cash, check, Zelle or credit card.
b) All other bidders: cash, bank or certified check, Zelle or credit card (no credit cards for rugs, silver or jewelry).
Buyer’s Premium
a) 25%
b) Credit card payments 29%
c) No discounts for cash.
d) Zelle preferred.
Absentee Bidding
Our photo preview gallery shows the premises as we found it; since those photos were taken we have created over 500 tray/box lots of the items in those photographs which now have been grouped according to our experience and discretion. Accordingly, there is no manageable connection between the preview photos and the tray lots. We will do our best to accommodate requests for absentee bidding, but there is no guarantee and bidders will be required to be registered in manner noted in paragraph (2) above.
Pickup & Delivery
a) All items must be paid and removed each day of sale.
b) Storage by advance arrangement, subject to charges.
c) Independent delivery service available 50 mile radius, negotiated fees.
d) Limited access for vehicles at property gate only.
e) Items in trays will be released with the tray; no other packing supplies or boxes will be provided or available on-site. You must bring packing supplies, blankets & boxes.
Parking
a) Parking on Sage Road one side only. Signs will be posted on the “no-parking” side. Unfortunately, violating vehicles are subject to tow and forfeiture, depending on value.
b) Complementary off-site is being arranged at the following Woodbury locations:
